If I were to

Take off this backpack
Pour something to drink
Serve up a warm plate

Turn down the blinds
Pull tight the curtains
Ease into a softer shade of mind

Close the window,
Fasten the shutters,
Hide from the elements and the wild,

Would I ever miss

Soft rustlings of leaves whispering in my ears,
Gentle dews licking my finger tips,
Vibrant horizons reflecting in my eyes

Bidding winding paths etched in thick, forested hillsides,
Stretching on toward spiraling mountain peaks,
Boasting a view I wouldn't dare dream to make my own.

Or would I dare?

Dare to go on
hungering,
thirsting,
dreaming,
ascending?
The true procedure of spiritual advance is to envision beautiful things of this world as steps along which one mounts upwards to that Higher Beauty. -Plato

Happiness makes up in height for what it lacks in length.

I broke my right wrist playing hockey yesterday. (It's 2 AM now and the pain makes it impossible to sleep.)

The bone snapped and slid inward, so the ends of the bone were overlapping each other. Apparently, this is quite common for wrist injuries.

They put me on conscious sedatives. They said that this way I wouldn't remember anything. But I remember it well. It was an awful experience.

Lloyd is an amateur photographer with a pretty nice SLR camera. He volunteered his help in taking ward photos. I was really impressed with how my photo turned out--despite that he only took one photo, and framed it in just a second since there were so many people in line. Anyway, here it is. Someday I'd love to get a nice SLR camera.

On another note, it is very sad, but things came to a rather abrupt end with Emily. She is a wonderful girl and I wish her the very best. I am confident that she will go on to do many great things in her life.
Scott and I are so happy to finally move into our new place. Over the past couple of weeks, by great generosity, we were put up in the basements of friends, but it's so nice to once again have a home. I really love our new roommate Lloyd and we're all planning lots of fun things to do in the future--especially making meals together. The house we moved into is beautiful, spacious, and lovely. Tonight some girls from the ward came by just to tell us how they thought our house was the most wonderful of all the places in the ward boundary. I think so, too.
